CTC Shows Up at Oak Barrel in Full Force
Quick race day recap, along with our 'why'

Picture it, Saturday, April 6, 2024. You’ve made your way from Chattanooga to Lynchburg to run the Oak Barrel half marathon. Your alarm went off at some absurd hour, you’ve eaten your pre-race fuel, you’ve had your nervous pre-race port-o visit, and now you’re waiting around for the race to start so you can warm your bones. Then you remember, ‘THE TRACK CLUB IS TAKING A PICTURE!’ and try to make your way through the crowd. You see all of the familiar faces you know from your weekly runs, pose for the picture, and head to the start line. The race begins. Around the 1 mile mark you may have heard the not so faint sound of women singing happy birthday to their friend Joey. You continue to cruise along the ups and downs of the course. You pet a dog that has come into the street, then continue on your way. After what feels like the longest mile in the history of miles you make the last turn to the finish line. Ahhhhhhh sweet victory! The race is over. You’ve had all of the post race nosh. With a happy heart and full belly you head home asking yourself “when can I do it again?!”.
Why did so many of our Track Club members travel to Lynchburg to race? Several of us, including myself, will be volunteering at The Chickamauga Chase on Saturday, April 20. Look for us at packet pickup and on the course cheering you on. You can find race details here.
