Battle for Chattanooga Race Series Medal: Revealed!

Here's the first look at the all-new Battle for Chattanooga Race series medal. This year's finisher medal depicts one of the most unique memorials in the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. 

Tour any National Military Park property in the area and you'll find monuments, tablets and other commemorative installations. Of the over 700 items, common design motifs include cannon, horses, obelisks, oak leaves and acorns and military figures in heroic poses. But only one memorial features a huge, snarling tiger. 

The monument to the 125th Ohio Volunteer Infantry honors the service of the Ohio regiment nicknamed 'Opdyke's Tigers' for their fighting prowess at Chickamauga and Missionary Ridge. Led by their commanding officer, Col. Emerson Opdyke, he and his men famously defended Horseshoe Ridge at Chickamauga and were later some of the first to reach the summit of Missionary Ridge. 

The three races in the Battle for Chattanooga series take place at Chickamauga and Missionary Ridge so it seems fitting to wear Opdyke's Tiger on our medal. While everyone who crosses the finish line at Missionary Ridge Road Race will receive a race medal, the additional Battle for Chattanooga medal is exclusive to series participants. The previous two races in the series were: 

1. Battlefield Races (November 2025): marathon, half, 5K.
2. Chickamauga Chase (April 2026): 15k, 5k, trail race. 

Anyone who completed one of the listed events in each of the prior races is automatically part of the race series. Just complete the Missionary Ridge Road race on August 8, 2026, and claim your medal that's as distinctive as the monument it commemorates.
