What Makes a Championship Race?
The RRCA selects championship races based on three criteria.
Quality: Each race demonstrates exceptional standards in organization, safety, and participant experience. These designations confirm that CTC events meet or exceed RRCA's benchmarks for excellence.
Community: RRCA championships emphasize community-based running events. The multiple designations reflect the CTC's deep integration with the local running community and its commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for runners of all abilities.
Competitive Opportunity: Championship races offer participants the chance to compete for the title of 'State Champion' within their age groups, adding prestige to already popular events.
Impact on Chattanooga
This achievement positions Chattanooga as a destination for competitive runners throughout Tennessee and neighboring states. For local runners, these championships provide unprecedented opportunities to compete at a championship level close to home.
The championship series also recognizes the countless volunteer hours and organizational expertise that make the Chattanooga Track Club a cornerstone of the regional running scene. From the Signal Mountain Pie Run’s sunrise views to the historic routes of the Chickamauga Battlefield, each race showcases different aspects of the area's natural beauty and history.
